Doug Braase, MA

Doug Braase, MA at Life Connections Counseling in Tampa FloridaIn his counseling, Doug creates a safe, authentic, and supportive environment where clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and valued. He believes that many presenting problems, such as anxiety, grief, relationship struggles, stress, and emotional overwhelm, are often connected to deeper wounds, unresolved experiences, and patterns that have developed over time. Rather than focusing solely on symptom relief or behavior change, Doug works collaboratively with clients to explore the underlying emotions, beliefs, and experiences shaping their current challenges.

Doug believes people are deeply influenced by their relationships, life experiences, and personal stories. Difficult experiences, trauma, loss, and unmet emotional needs can contribute to feelings of insecurity, disconnection, hopelessness, or fear. His counseling helps clients process these experiences with compassion and honesty while developing healthier coping skills, greater self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of purpose and direction.

Doug integrates evidence-based practices with empathy, encouragement, and individualized care tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. He has particular interests in trauma-informed care, grief counseling, relationship counseling. As a veteran himself, he enjoys supporting veterans and first responders. He is also SYMBIS Facilitator certified and enjoys working with couples in both premarital counseling and relationship enrichment settings.

Before entering the counseling profession, served in combat in the US Navy. After that service Doug built a diverse background in business, leadership, and advocacy. He earned a triple-major Bachelor of Business Administration degree in General Business, Entrepreneurship Management, and Human Resource Management. He completed his Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. His varied personal and professional experiences help him connect with clients from many different backgrounds and stages of life.

Doug completed clinical training in community mental health settings in Florida. He is passionate about walking alongside individuals, couples, and families through seasons of healing, growth, and restoration. He values building strong therapeutic relationships grounded in trust, respect, and authenticity while helping clients move toward meaningful and lasting change.
